In terms of innovation one of the most conspicuous features of the latest flagship from LG’s modular G5 is the bottom bezel which can be unlatched easily and replaced with two alternate modules called CAM Plus and the LG Hi-Fi plus. What the CAM Plus offers is ease for the user while shooting along with an extra 1200 mAh battery, on one side of the module it has analog buttons for the camera. One button if for zooming while another one for controlling the shutter and then a separate button to control video recording. Now the LG Hi-Fi plus which is developed in partnership with Bang & Olufsen supports 32-bit 384KHz high-definition audio playback for audio lovers. If the modular nature idea is picked up it could mean huge things for not only LG but smartphones in general.

The phone’s body is made of metal, but has no visible seams or cellular antenna bands — a first for a metal device. Its a 5.3-inch Android phone with a quad HD display and metal body. It feels smooth in the hand with no seams. It measures 149.4 x 73.9 x 7.7mm, and while this phone won’t be curved like its predecessor, it is smaller and easier to hold thanks to its 5.3-inch display. Reaching all corners of the screen is now possible. LG is keeping the microSD card slot and removable battery, even with the metal unibody look, and it does this with an innovative new design. It hasn’t forgotten its power user roots. Android 6.0 Marshmallow is installed on the G5, but the company has taken the controversial decision to remove the familiar Android app drawer from its user interface.

Another impressive invention, LG’s new 16MP camera module has a wide angle with a 135 degree field of view that was wider than than the wide-angle lens on my DSLR. LG’s deep and extensive manual controls have also made a comeback, with granular control available on every shot.
